The person named above is responsible for data processing within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What is SparPlaner?
SparPlaner is a free household budget app. It lets you scan receipts, manage budgets and shopping lists, and plan meals. SparPlaner is available as a web app (PWA) and an iOS app. There is no advertising, no tracking, and no paid features required for core use.
3. What data is collected?
We collect and process only the data that is necessary to use the app:

4. Legal basis
We process your data on the following legal bases:
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) — processing is necessary to provide you with the app’s features (account, budget management, shopping lists, meal planning).
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) — ensuring the secure operation of the app (e.g. session management, abuse prevention).
5. Storage and deletion
Your data is stored for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (possible in the app settings), all your data is permanently and irrevocably deleted, including receipts, shopping lists, images, and group memberships.
Server logs containing IP addresses are automatically deleted after 7 days at the latest.
6. Hosting and technical infrastructure
The entire infrastructure is located in Germany:
- Web server and database: Hetzner Cloud, Germany. The database (PostgreSQL) runs on the same server.
- Receipt images: Hetzner Storage Box (WebDAV), Germany.
No data is transferred to third countries (outside the EU/EEA).
7. Data security
We use the following measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: All connections are secured via HTTPS/TLS.
- Passwords: Stored hashed with bcrypt — never in plain text.
- Sessions: Session tokens are stored as SHA-256 hashes in the database. Even in the event of a data breach, sessions cannot be hijacked.
- Cookies: Only an authentication cookie is set (httpOnly, Secure, SameSite). No tracking or advertising cookies.
8. Disclosure to third parties
Your data is not shared with third parties. There are no advertising partners, no analytics services, and no other external recipients.
We do not use services such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or comparable tracking tools.
9. Cookies
SparPlaner uses a single cookie — the authentication cookie for your session. It is technically necessary and contains no personal data. It is flagged httpOnly and Secure and cannot be read by third parties.
Since only technically necessary cookies are used, no cookie banner is required.
10. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data at any time:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR) — you can request information about the data we store about you.
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) — you can have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — you can request deletion of your data. You can delete your own account in the app.
- Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR) — you can request that processing be restricted.
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) — you can receive your data in a common format.
- Objection (Art. 21 GDPR) — you can object to processing.

11. Right to complain
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your data violates the GDPR (Art. 77 GDPR).

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The current version is always available on this page. We will inform you within the app of any material changes.
